The "Enhanced" Nurse Licensure Compact is Passed

On Friday, April 21, 2017, Governor Terry Branstad signed SF419 into law. This bill is the “enhanced” language for the Nurse Licensure Compact.

Iowa has successfully been part of the current Nurse Licensure Compact for 16 years and now we will be part of the new and improved Nurse Licensure Compact.

“I would like to thank Governor Branstad and the Iowa Legislators for supporting and passing the “Enhanced” Nurse Licensure Compact. The updated language will promote the portability of nurses, increase access to care while maintaining public protection and increase the use of telehealth. The nurses of Iowa say thank you and look forward to all 50 states joining the compact. “  Kathy Weinberg, Executive Director, Iowa Board of Nursing
