Iowa Board of Nursing

Nursing Education Programs

The Iowa Board of Nursing (IBON) approves and regulates nursing education programs preparing practical nurses, registered nurses, and advanced registered nurse practitioners for licensure. In addition, the IBON approves post-licensure programs including Master of Science in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice, and Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing. The Board does not approve nursing education programs which are outside of Iowa jurisdiction. However, those programs follow the guidelines and criteria set forth by the IBON. This section contains resources and information on pre-licensure and post-licensure nursing education programs for administrators, educators, and students.
