Please be aware that if you are making an application for license by examination or endorsement and present degrees and transcripts from any of these programs, your application may require additional investigation and review prior to approval.

Notice to Iowa License Applicants

These programs are presently under review by the Florida Board of Education and Florida Board of Nursing for failing to meet educational standards or possible fraudulent activity:

  • Carleen Health Institute of South Florida
  • Myrielle School of Nursing
  • Nursing Bridges Institute
  • Palm Beach International College
  • Suncoast College of Health
  • Techni-Pro Institute

 

Licensure is required for nursing practice in Iowa as identified in Iowa Code sections 147.2 and 152.6.

Licensure is the process by which the Iowa Board of Nursing grants permission to an individual who meets the qualifications for a licensed nurse in the State of Iowa and ensures that licenses are renewed in compliance with licensing regulations.

655 IAC 3.7(2) New licenses. The board shall issue licenses by endorsement and examination for a 24- to 36-month period. When the license is renewed, it will be placed on a three-year renewal cycle. Expiration shall be on the fifteenth day of the licensee’s birth month.
