Annual Regulatory Plan

To the extent permitted by statute, Executive Order 9 (under then Governor Vilsack, 9/14/99) directed administrative agencies to fulfill several responsibilities with regard to the administrative rulemaking process. The order required each State agency with authority to adopt state regulations to adhere to a set of principles and procedures when engaging in agency rule-making.

The mission of the Iowa Board of Nursing is to protect the public health, safety and welfare by regulating the licensure of nurses, the practice of nurses, nursing education and continuing education.

The [655] Iowa Board of Nursing, under the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) umbrella, lists each potential rule under consideration every year.  See page 8 of the IDPH Fiscal Year 2021 Plan , for the Board of Nursing details.
